Wondering how many topics should you include in your course? Struggling to make your course memorable? Overwhelmed by content?
Here’s a game-changer: Simplify.
Follow the “Rule of Four Miles”. It’s not just a method; it’s your blueprint for creating courses that stick.
Mile 0 is what you need to know before you start: Where you course student is at before they take your course.
Start with the end in mind, Mile 4: The Big Idea. One core topic. That’s your focus. Why? Clarity wins. Overload loses.
Miles 1-3: Pick up to three subtopics. Think that’s too few? Wrong. A cognitive psychology research by Miller says most of us can’t hold more than 7 or 8 things in our heads at once. But three? That’s the sweet spot.*
* Try to Google “the magical number seven plus or minus two by Miller”. Or this Wikipedia article could be a good start too.
This isn’t fluff. It’s science. And it works.
Your course becomes the beacon in a sea of forgettable content.
Next time you’re outlining your course, remember the “Rule of Four Miles”. One main theme, three subtopics. That’s it. Simplify to amplify.
And if you’re ready to ditch the overwhelm and scale your coaching business with sell-out courses, let’s chat. Your next course could be the one that transforms your business.
Forget the complexity. Embrace simplicity. That’s how you make your course unforgettable.
